We use the liquid form be/c we add it to his water that he drinksthroughout the day. Luke is about 35 pounds and we give 2 tsp ofeach (throughout the day ... not all at once). We also add(crushed) folic acid when he has the DMG be/c we read that it helps thebody metabolize the DMG. I can't remember where we read about thedosage ... may have been in the info we received from ARI. Sincethey're water soluble, we're not too concerned about his getting toomuch. Folic acid is water soluble as well.
I had posted last week about vitamin therapy and alot of you said you use super nu thera and DMG. So I researched a little and found Kirkman labs they had quite a selection. My question is do you use the powder or liquid? Also are these things only available online or can you find them at Vitamin Stores? Do you need a doctor to tell you how much to give? Or could a doctor prescribe them??? Just neede a little more info. I am really considering trying it out. Thanks,
Nita
We use the liquid SNT w/ Vitamin A or D (Wild Cherry flavor). I think the best thing to do is buy a few of the trial packages (around -4 each to see which flavor your child prefers) Also, when you introduce the liquid, do it gradually. Start off w/ 1/4 tsp in each cup. They do have a vitamin aftertaste so it is good to gradually give it to them so they don't develop an aversion to the taste immediately.
We use DMG from DaVinci Labs, which is a liquid. Kirkman has good products so it is probably easier just to buy evverything from one place.
N1: Good morning Dr. Frye and thanks for joining us. Can you give a short synopsis of the Folinic Acid Trial you just completed? RF: The trial was a double-blind placebo-controlled trial to determine if folinic acid, a special type of folate, could improve core and associated symptoms of autism.
Has anyone heard of Body Balance vitamins from Life Force, I have some friends that are using it and it has had some good effects on children with autism:)Moving it up
I'm new to these message boards but the mother to a 24 year old autistic daughter. I am ready to try the high dose B6 and magnesium and DMG but have no idea if it will help my daughter at this age. All of you seem to have toddlers. My daughter is non verbal, has pretty severe SIB (self injurious behaviors of hitting her head with her hands and biting her own hands hard) and she will become aggressive and attempt to bite staff at her Day Hab Program or the other consumers there. She also has very intense grand mal seizures once a week or more often. Over the years I have tried many, many anti seizure meds and combinations of them but not only did they not stop the seizures she also had terrible side effects from them. I need to help her because these seizures are taking a toll on her body. And I miss at least one day of work each week to take care of her. She weighs 206 pounds and I need some help. Thank you .LAWozniak...referring you to the following message board as most here are not as familiar with biomed as this one is:
please repost your question there, I know you will get a lot of responses.

I'm surprised you are having trouble posting. Did you join as a member?...because you have to be a member in order to post. As for the vitamins you are thinking of trying, I think you could probably find some that are ok at a health food store. Whenever I am unable to purchase from kirkmans and have to buy locally, I just be sure to read the ingredients for anything that shouldn't be there.
Keep in mind though that if you are thinking of buying super nu thera (you didn't list it, but just in case), you aren't going to find it at a health food store.
momtoMatthew: I'm having trouble posting a question on that site. Do yu think just E-mailing Kirkman Labs would be sufficient? Do you think the B6, magnesium and DMG is something I could get at a reputable health food store in the Buffalo, New York area where I live? LAWozniak,
You may want to listen to some of the MP3s from the last DAN! conference. Specifically, Jim Adams spoke about supplements and violent behavior, but I think most of them are worth listening to. Here is the link.

I don't know how you have done it all these years. My heart goes out to you.
